The essential oil of this plant has been used by man fo thougands of years of health benefits as well as a food and spice. The major active ingredient in oil of oregano is the natural phenol know as carvacrol. Synthetic versons such as carbolic acid have been used in hospitals for stertilization of surgical tools, but the carvacrol found in the oregano oil is a more powerful antiseptic. Its recommended for bacteria, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections. Its considers one of the medicine cabinet essentials to have. I have been using this, its extremely powerful if your using it interally, but so effective, I have also used it for a cold sore on my lip and taken it internally, I have tried everything natural and pharmacutical to get rid of these, and I have used the oregano oil right on the spot of infection, this was the first time that it didnt fester, and started to heal immediately healing time was reduced, and I have read of certain treatments of the oil used in the spine where the virus is thought to live when dormant, to rid it completely from your body, so yes there is a cure for herpes, people have also been using it for the HIV and AIDs virus.
